Julie Bowling – DVM

Julie is a 2001 graduate of UTCVM Knoxville, TN. She started working in regular practice focused on small animal surgery and medicine. In 2010 she began splitting her time between regular practice and spay/neuter clinics. Julie lives in Anderson County with her husband, 3 children, 6 dogs, and 7 cats (not counting any foster animals they may have at any given time).

David J Appel – VMD

David J Appel is originally from NJ and received his undergraduate degree in Biology at Virginia Tech. After college, he worked for Johnson & Johnson in the Department of Skin Biology. He then received his doctorate degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009.

Appel moved from San Diego to Tennessee with his wife Caroline, dog #1, and cat Fern. The natural world fascinates him and he is looking forward to exploring Tennessee.

He is also excited to meet his new clients and patients at Norris Animal Hospital.

Selina Nuchols – Office Manager

Selina is a lifelong resident of East Tennessee. She has over 20 years’ experience in the veterinary field and is our resident “cat whisperer”. When not giving your fur babies exceptional care, Selina enjoys making crafts.

Jennifer Alexander – Senior Vet Assistant

Jennifer has always loved caring for animals. She has worked as a veterinary assistant since 2001 and recently began school to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She shares her home with 2 dogs, Katy and Sam and 3 cats, Pixie, Jasper & Enzo, also her husband and teenage daughter. Jennifer is also a Certified Yoga Teacher and loves being in nature, kayaking, and reading.

Amanda Rainey – Vet Assistant

Amanda is happily married to her high school sweetheart. Proud parents of two amazing sons, Peyton and Colt. Amanda’s family lives in Caryville, with their two dogs, Diesel and Zeke. She has always had a special bond with animals and believes a smile, a kind word, and a gentle hand can make anyone (human or animal) feel better.

Shelby Moody – Veterinary Assistant/Customer Care Representative

Shelby recently obtained her Certification as a Veterinary Assistant at Ashworth College. She loves hanging out with her friends and family and going on little adventures. She has two dogs, Sadie and Ginger and two cats, Cookie and Shadow.

Gracie Cook – Customer Care Representative/Veterinary Assistant

Gracie is a lifelong resident of the Anderson/Knox County area. She has always had a soft spot for animals, and falls in love with every single one she meets. After she graduates ACHS, Gracie plans on pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. When she is not working hard to achieve that, she is spending time with her two dogs, Holly and Stella.

Jeanette Long – Customer Care Representative/Veterinary Assistant

Jeanette has worked as a receptionist and veterinary assistant for 7 years. She has 2 dogs and 3 cats. When she is not working, she enjoys hiking and going to Disney with her family.
